Use one unit system and identify outer dimensions versus usable internal dimensions. If you are copying an existing pouch, a photo and drawing help us understand how it was measured.
Outer width and height do not tell the whole story. Seals, zipper placement, and the base affect the room available for your pet treats.
For stand-up pouches, include width, height, and base depth, plus the units and how the base was measured. For lay-flat packs, include width and height. Confirm the final drawing before artwork begins.
| Packaging | Measurements to send | Also include |
|---|---|---|
| Stand-up pouch | Width × height × base depth | Units, how the base was measured, zipper, and fill weight |
| Lay-flat pouch | Width × height | Seal widths if known, opening, product thickness, and fill weight |
| Die-cut pouch | Outer outline and proposed fill cavity | Shape artwork, opening, display method, and product photo |
| Chew and stick pack | Stick length × diameter and count | Individual wrapper or multipack, machine or hand packing |
| Rollstock | Web width and print repeat | Machine spec, unwind direction, core and maximum roll diameter |
A tight fit may look efficient but create problems during filling or sealing. Review the whole pack instead of removing every bit of headspace.
The opening needs to accommodate the product without forcing pieces through or contaminating the seal area.
Keep the product clear of the sealing zone. Account for any zipper, tear notch, or header before finalizing usable space.
Test how the pack stands, hangs, and handles. The bag’s appearance empty is not the same as its appearance after filling.
A sensible sequence keeps sizing changes from forcing a last-minute redesign.
Send measurements or product details, plus how you intend to pack and sell the pet treats.
Confirm what sample options are available and which dimensions need to be evaluated.
Once dimensions and features are settled, prepare artwork on the corresponding dieline.
